Taking Time for You

Taking Time for You

Often times, I tend to over commit my time. As a result of trying to do too much, I feel burnt out and resentful. This weekend, I made a choice to take the time to relax and rest at home. I wasn’t feeling well on Friday, and I knew running errands and visiting over the weekend was not going to bring out the best in me. As a result of making the choice to nurture myself as I was able to finish a book I was reading, write a column, walk my dog and kick back with my feet up.

As a career woman, I am constantly busy. Learning to say no has been a challenge for me. However, by investing time in myself I have become far more productive. I hope that you too learn the value of taking personal time-outs for your fabulous self. Saying no and not over committing can feel awkward at first. Don’t feel guilty; instead, feel empowered that you know what is best for you. I, too, have to practice what I preach, and when I do I feel strong and centered. Remember by being good to yourself, you are able to be good to others.
