There are a lot of issues in this world that pull at my heart strings. Instead of sitting back and feeling powerless, I choose to make a stance and stand up for what I believe in. This blog, the column I write and the music I make are all forms of activism. I am blessed to be able to share my message with a global audience. Now, you might not be an extravert, nor want to start a blog; nevertheless, you can make a stand.
You as a consumer have purchasing power. Demand drives supply. In our North American economics model, environmental costs, human and animal well-being are most often neglected and not factored into economics equations. When you support industries and companies that respect life, you are creating change with the dollars you spend.
Write a letter to demand change! I often write letters to my Member of Parliament, Ministers and companies. If, I do not respect the policies set in place by the government, industry or company, I let them know my concerns in a respectful manner. The pen is mightier than the sword, so if you want to change, demand it!
