Spiritual Essence

There is a part of our being that I hope all people are able to connect to, the essence of who they are. This past week I went to listen to Canadian physician, Gabor Mate’s, poignant message on trauma and pain. I love his quote, not why the addiction but why the pain. He mentioned pain does not allow us the opportunity to be present and that he does not believe that things are not going to really change for six generations.

My Granny says, it’s easy to behave badly and it’s hard to be good. Once you have tapped into the essence of who you are, behaving in ways that go against your core do not feel natural. Truly, if you want to experience peace, you have to do the inner work necessary to free yourself from the pain/shame/hurt that holds you back. If you ever want true intimacy and connection you must be willing to look within and reclaim those parts that have become lost. At our essence, we are spirit and spirit is love. I hope you have the courage to do what is necessary to live your best possible life!
