Next Generation

Connecting children to spirit is vital! If children connect to Spirit they are far less likely to be vulnerable to addictions. Children learn from what they live with. If parents have addictions, children are far more likely to be subject to the addictions of the adults modeling such behaviors.

Drinking and drugging does not have to be a coming of age behavior for the next generation. Alcohol consumption continues to increase, and prayer seems to be something we shy away from discussing. Who knew prayer was a thing? I certainly didn’t especially when I was a teen and young adult. Prayer is powerful and being rooted in one’s faith provides a person with shelter through life’s storms. A simple thank-you or help are easy ways to ease a person into prayer.

Starting the day off in prayer centers a person. Smudging daily to cleanse the mind, body and spirit feels good and provides spiritual strength. Indigenous medicines are here on Turtle Island (North America) for everyone to use. If you pick medicines, be sure to offer tobacco in prayer to thank the earth for her blessings. We all have spirits and it is up to us how we care for them. Pray and encourage your children to pray, hopefully our next generation will be more spiritually evolved, happier and healthier!
