Global Citizenship

Global Citizenship

What does it mean to be a global citizen? Who really cares about this planet and its living beings? People of the heart do! Right now, there are things going on that no one should be turning a blind on to: species extinction, global warming, child labor, sexual exploitation and so much more.

We are of this planet. We are the minerals, bone, flesh and blood of the land. As David Suzuki wisely teaches, “What we do to the earth, we do to ourselves.” Genetically we are made up of the materials of the earth, we are not separate beings; we are one.

The Polar Bear has always had a special place in my heart. They represent climate change and our global citizenship. First off, I’m Bear Clan we are guardians and medicine people. Why is it that one species has to suffer for another to live? Polar Bears are dying! They are starving to death because the ice in which they use to survive is no longer forming within their traditional hunting season.

The animals have not forgotten their purpose. They still do what they have originally done. We, humans, have forgotten how to be human. How many people have a connection to the earth and their Spirit? How many of us have been conditioned to believe a cultural lie? We cannot buy our happiness. We are not meant to toil without spiritual connection to all life. We are social animals and we have always depended on others for survival.

I strongly suggest watching this video, Polar Bear and Climate Change. I broke down in tears watching such a regal animal starving to death because the ecosystem it depends upon for survival can no longer support its livelihood.

What are you doing to be a keeper of the land? A steward of the earth you are part of? Who respects their global citizenship? I think it’s time, we all do! Stop believing the lies that have been forced upon us! We are of the earth, we are the same bone, flesh and blood; it is our sacred responsibility to take care of our Mother. Without the land in which we depend upon for our survival, we are nothing! Step outside of yourself and think about you can do for other beings; we are all in this life together.
