Raising Thinkers

Raising Thinkers

Before having children it would be best if people thought and considered whether they are ready to emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually commit to raising a child.

As an educator, I see more and more school age children who are not prepared for kindergarten. Why? They are not being read to or not enough. In order for children to be ready for school, parents must read 2-3 books to them. I think reading to children must start in utero, otherwise I strongly suggest reading to children as soon as they’re born.

Reading to children is nurturing and fosters a love of learning and builds their vocabulary. Readers can become leaders because they are thinkers. Reading enhances creativity and gets children to use their imagination and question the world around them. You can take children to public libraries and book stores. It is possible to make reading fun!

Raise thinkers! Be sure to read to young ones, so they’ll learn to question the world around them. It is a care givers responsibility to develop the mind and vocabulary of the children they are raising. Parenting is a sacred duty that must be respected and taken seriously; read to your children!
