Medicine

Medicine

One of my favorite thinkers of the 20th century, John Trudell, asked what is your medicine? There are many ways to interpret this question. Medicine to help you heal from illness, medicines to prevent sickness, and medicine to restore you to health.

What are your medicines? When I think of medicine, I think of the traditional ones I pick and use on a regular basis: sage, cedar, sweetgrass, and tobacco. What about being outdoors, laughter, being around those who unconditionally love and support you?

What strengthens you? What heals your spirit, mind and body? There are western and eastern medicines I take to prevent and heal my physical body, but what about your spirit? How do you heal your heart and spirit wounds?

Prayer! I pray you seek out your medicine and remember what you feed grows; feed yourself thoughts, behaviours and actions that nourish you!
