Knowledge is Power

Knowledge is Power

For thousands of years a very small group of people knew how to read and write. Ancient Egyptians were the first group of humans to write on paper. They had an intricate system of writing known as hieroglyphics that is still recognizable today. Seeing as most human beings throughout our human history have been illiterate, consider yourself blessed to be able to read and write.

Martin Luther King Jr’s powerful statement, “replace self pity with self respect and self depreciation with dignity” rings a bell relating to learning. If a person wants to change their socio-economic position in society, they must value learning. Reading to children has a profound effect on their school experience as children living in poverty are less likely to be read to and have less of a vocabulary when entering school.

Graduating from high school and seeking post-secondary education will enhance opportunities in your life. I am a school teacher. It comes as no surprise that I value education and learning. It is my fundamental belief that if a person wants to change their social position, they must use education as a tool to change their life. Not everyone needs to go to university; college training changes lives too. Do what you love to do, pick a career you are going to love and that brings joy to your life.

Get to know yourself! Learn about who you are, the year you were born, Chinese Zodiac, Horoscope, culture, personality type, family history: learn about you! Being able to read and write are a blessing; enjoy learning, educating yourself and learning about your fabulous self.
