“Dodged a Bullet” features a feisty Brandi Vezina and she’s not pulling any punches. Her Red River Metis Grandmother Marcella Vezina adds her vocals. Brandi says, “It was important to have my Granny on this track because her prayers helped me get out of a bad situation.” Vezina wrote this song with Liz Christensen and Sarah Elliot.
“It was important to have my Granny on this track because her prayers helped me get out of a bad situation,” Brandi says, explaining that Marcella is no stranger to the music world. “She recorded two singles, “Welcome Home Honey” & “Tennessee Song”, in 1974 and has released several albums with the Why Knott Band, so I knew she’d be comfortable in the studio.”
“(Producer) Murray (Pulver), my Grandparents, and I sang some songs together before recording and it felt like being home around the kitchen table.” Brandi explains.
