Physical Activity

How do you take care of yourself? Are you aware of your needs and wants? We are into the swing of the holiday season and soon New Year’s resolutions will be upon us. However in this midst of things, what are you currently doing to take care of your well-being?

Nobody is going to do for you what you need to do for yourself. Your happiness and well-being are your responsibility. Although this time of year is busy, do make taking care of yourself a priority. Physical activity fluids your brain with a variety of feel good chemicals. Neurologically working out is exceptional for your mental well-being and self-confidence. Simply adding 20 minutes of exercise 2-3 days a week will improve not only how you physically feel but also how you feel about yourself. Taking care of your health improves your self-esteem as you tend to your own needs.

At work lately, some staff members and I have been meeting after work hours to play volleyball together. Also, during lunch hours and before school a few of us have been joining together to get physical activity. I forgot how much fun it is to play sports on a team and workout with friends. Rest, play, a balanced diet, a sense of community and sufficient sleep all improve one’s well-being. It is up to you how you choose to take care of yourself, so be sure to tend to your own needs and wants in a variety of health benefiting ways!
