Cell Phones Away

Cell Phones Away

When did we become slaves to technology? Choosing to do away with social media last year has been extremely freeing to my peace of mind. I am no longer taking selfies and editing them to add on social media sites instantaneously to show others what a great time I am possibly having. Nah! Those days are over.

Still, I have to remind myself to put my cellphone away and enjoy the company I’m with. However, my selfie obsession, food shots and constant commenting has come to a halt. I have spent the last year developing a stronger connection to myself and my higher power.

Brendon Burchard stated, “As much as we check in, we are checking out of our own lives and becoming voyeuristic; peering gape-mouthed into the sordid details of other people’s lives in order to feel connected and entertained.” Instead of half living your own life, enjoy your present moments without constant updates and choose to put your cellphone away when you’re with company. You will be surprised how much more enjoyable and meaningful your conversations will be without distractions. Technology is a tool, let’s not forget that!
