Anger

Anger

Anger is not something that is meant to be controlled. Anger is a warning sign; an emotional response to the happenings in one’s life. People get angry for a variety of reasons; they’re hurt, disappointed, impatient, annoyed, etc. The point being, anger is a natural human emotion. How you deal with your anger depends upon the strategies and coping skills you’ve pick up along the way. Simply yelling, breaking things, acting out in violence and calling people names demonstrates that a person has not learned to express their emotions in a healthy and non-abusive way.

The good news is if someone is willing to learn to express how they’re feeling and then respond to the emotion in a more constructive way; changes of behavior can occur. No matter what, don’t feel guilty for feeling angry; instead, learn how to communicate in a healthy manner. I suggest breathing to 10 before responding, walking away from a chaotic situation and talking things through with someone you trust. It does not feel good to act out of anger, so think before you react.
