In the West, this is the safest both women and children have been. Yet, violence against women, assault and sexual abuse are still highly prevalent. How does that make you feel? Realistically, we experience more equality here in Canada more than women of previous generations; however, we all have work to do to protect our children and future generations.
What kind of world do you want our little ones to live in? One where both men and women earn the same amount of money in the same position? One where 1/3 girls and 1/6 boys no longer experience some form of sexually inappropriate behaviour?
I definitely want to see all children given the opportunities to be protected, loved and guided into adulthood with supporting, nurturing adults no matter what community or socio-economics they are from. Our children and women must be treated with dignity and it is on us to do the inner-work necessary to secure a healthy future for all people. It doesn’t take money or prestige to do the right thing. Have the courage to say or do something when you know things are not right. Together, we can create a future we can all be proud of; it does start with you and the decisions you make daily. Our little ones deserve the best, so let’s make things better for them.
