What does cruelty free mean? Cruelty free ensures that manufacturers and companies adhere to laws that ensure animals are being treated with higher qualities of standards and unnecessary cruelty. We consumers are often unaware the abuses animals endure to produce and test the products we consume. Animals are often mutilated, live in inhumane conditions and undergo grotesque testing in the name of science and cosmetic research.
When you purchase products with the cruelty free symbol (bunny ears), you are putting your consumer purchasing power to use. The vast majority of the cosmetics industry tests upon animals to bring new advances to market for profit at the expense of defenseless animals.
This might come as a total shock to you; however, I challenge you to research your favorite make up products to see if they support animal testing. If so, try out some new cosmetics that make cruelty free a priority. Animals deserve to be treated with love and kindness, who is going to protect and care for their well-being? We all can with the choices we make on a day-to-day basis.
