I have made a career teaching people to connect to the Earth. It has been an honour connecting children to the Earth in my classroom and speaking in workshops about Spirituality and traditional ecological knowledge. I am thankful I made the choice to become an educator after completing my Bachelor of Environmental Science degree; it has allowed me the opportunity to advocate for the Earth for many years.
At one time, we were all tribal and depended on the Earth for survival. Like John Trudell taught, look at your people and when they were colonized and forced off the land. Whether it was 50 generations ago or not, we all had a sacred connection to the Earth.
It is our ability to survive that is in peril. The Earth can take a billion years to heal, we do not have that time. We must act now and find our sacred connection back with and to the Earth.
