Melody Beattie wisely said, “We do not lead others into the Light by stepping into the darkness with them.” There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of wanting to be in a healthy, loving and functional relationship. However, in order to have such a relationship, one has to pick a healthy partner. If you’ve never seen a healthy relationship then it’s almost impossible to know how to have one.
The point of getting into any relationship is not to change someone’s behaviour. Instead, do the inner work necessary to build your self worth to know that you deserve a healthy, loving partner and understand that using other people to avoid your own feelings has its effects upon your well-being and karmic debt.
Living an honest life requires self discipline, but it’s worth it! Love yourself, there is nothing wrong with you. Jumping in and out of relationships is not a substitute for having a loving relationship with yourself. Be cautious who you’re around and do the healing work that delves into your own pain. Keep your light shining bright. You’re worth it!
