I definitely enjoy Halloween! I’ve always enjoyed dressing up and making Halloween memorable for the children I have taught. Over the years though, I have developed a distaste for the ways in which we are teaching our youth to acceptably objectify their bodies in honor of Halloween. By no means am I shaming peoples’ bodies or sexuality; however, why must we demonstrate to impressionable young minds that Halloween is a time to dress sleazy? If women want to be treated with dignity, we must demonstrate that we respect ourselves from day to day. There is a way to be sexy and classy; you will be respected if you respect yourself!
