Reduce Plastic

Reduce Plastic

Before the 1950’s, plastic was not a consumer good that was heavily depended upon. Plastic is a by-product of the oil industry; oil based polymers are manipulated to produce plastic. Millions of litres of water are wasted to manufacture the plastics we all rely upon. Not only does the production of plastic degrade the environment, it also has toxic effects upon our bodies. It is best to eliminate microwaving foods in plastic, as our bodies bio-accumulate all of the toxic chemicals and chemical reactions resulting from plastic storage. On that note, go back to the way food was stored before the 1950’s: in glass. Glass has far less effects upon our bodies, and the production, re-usage and recycling of glass has less impacts upon the natural world. All of the choices we make on a daily basis, can improve our health and the health of our home planet.
