Mind, Body and Spirit: Meditation

Mind, Body and Spirit: Meditation

Most people picture a crossed legged guru sitting in a lotus position when they think of meditation. So, what is meditation really? Meditation is prayer. It is conscious contact with a Higher Power of your understanding. When you meditate, you are connected to your own higher self; you are able to listen to your own intuition, heart and soul.

An easy way to start meditating is to close your eyes, take large breaths through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. I like to breathe in the word “peace” and breathe out the word “love.” Whenever I pray, I like to think of all of the people in my life who are suffering with addictions, divorce, and hardships; while meditating, I send them my love and blessings.

As you are meditating, visualize the life you desire. See in your mind what it is you truly want and what your life purpose may be. Envision the career you want, your home, what partner you would like, and the relationships you would like to have with family members and friends. Whatever you want, ask for in prayer.

Through meditation, you balance your body’s energy and life force. You have seven energy centers in your body known as chakras. You have your root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras. When you clear your chakras through meditation, your life force energy is rejuvenated. Chakra balancing is an age old practice that can be used on a regular basis for the betterment of your health.

Ease your way into meditation however you feel comfortable. Understand that while you are meditating, you are nurturing your mind, body and soul. I strongly suggest setting five minutes of your own time daily and devoting that time to building your health and overall well-being through the miracles of meditation.
