Our well being is our responsibility. I recently read an extraordinary teaching by Pema Chodron that we accept and reject what we are willing to tolerate and it is our choice as to what is medicine and poison in our lives. Seeing as we are solely responsible for our health and well-being, it is vital that we celebrate what we are doing for ourselves to benefit our mind, body and spirit.
Health is something each and every single one of us must work at. Sometimes, we eat well sometimes we don’t. Celebrate the times you nurture your body with health benefitting foods, vitamins, supplements and minerals and remember it’s up to us what is medicine and poison to our bodies.
If you eat the worst possible diet, right now is a good place to start making changes. What works for one person does not necessarily work for another; however, it is up to you to learn about health and celebrate every little thing you do to take care of yourself. Change takes awareness and a willingness to do the work necessary to see lasting results.
Why beat yourself up? Why punish yourself for being less than perfect? Don’t! Instead make it your mantra to improve your health each and everyday. Something I know that works is drink more water and eat more real foods. The thoughts we think have the most profound impacts on our health, if you hate your body those are only thoughts. Truly, changing the way you think will change the way you feel. Thinking poisoning self hatred thoughts will not improve your health, it will reduce it. Instead seek out new ways of thinking and celebrate right now what you are doing. You are exactly where you are supposed to be with the awareness you currently have; keep learning!
