As you learn to enjoy your own company, you will begin to find peace within yourself. Often times, people run from place to place and person to person to avoid their own company. When you start to love and accept yourself, you will realize the value of being comfortable in your own skin together with using your time alone to recharge and restore your energy.
If you are constantly on the go and you do not take time for yourself, you will begin to feel burnt out. And when you feel burnt out, you’re not functioning at your best. If you’re a parent, you know all too well that it is often difficult to find time for yourself.
I suggest putting your children to bed earlier and going to bed one hour earlier yourself. Wake up before your family so that you may savor uninterrupted time for yourself to do the activities that you like to do. Gaining this valuable time is a benefit to your well-being. Use your lunch hours and other time alone as opportunities to do the activities that bring you joy.
Learn to value your solitude. As a human being, you have earned the right to have peace and quiet time when you want it or need it throughout your life. It’s not selfish to have a vested interest in your own well-being; you deserve time to take care of yourself and renew your energy on a daily basis.
