We all need a support system. Every person needs people in their life they feel they can count on and share their burdens and joys with. Simply knowing that there is someone there to hear you out and possibly help point you in the right direction when life gets to be a little too much to bear is important.
There are many different places to meet supportive people. 12 Step programs offer unconditional support, as do Grief Share, Adult Children of Alcoholics and family support groups. Seeking counselling can also bring much needed support into a person’s life. No matter what it is essential to share what you are feeling with someone you trust. Denying how you are feeling does not allow you the opportunity to process feelings and make changes to situations and behaviors. Be sure to build a strong support network and nurture the relationships that give you strength.
