It is vital to make time to nurture the relationships in our lives. More and more, I hear people say that they feel less connected with others. Yes, we live in a world that seems to be hyper-vigilantly connected through social media news feeds and texts messages. But really, how much time are we spending with people throughout our days? The glue that holds a society together are relationships and family units. This generation is learning to spend more time online and less time socializing with the people around them.
Taking time to nurture family and friend relationships is something to work toward. An elder recently told me that people seem to be taken out of reality with the gadgets they’re on and the amount of screen time they watch.
Completely doing away with television and social media is not realistic; however, making an effort to connect to the people in your home, community and workspace is doable. Here are some practical suggestions to foster connectivity: eat together without technological devices at the table is; put your cellphone down in the company of others and/or watch a little less television to cultivate meaningful conversations that can last a life time. I hope you have an incredible week and enjoy the company you keep.
